How far would you go for a coffee?
As some of you may know, I went for a random road trip today.. just because I could, and I don't know when I"ll get another chance to make a random trip down to visit more distant friends!
I guess I've set a new distance/travel record for how far I've gone to visit someone for coffee. I had an amazing and very refreshing time going down to Olean/Allegany NY again today.
One of the great reasons to go down there is the drive. Its a beautiful trip down Interstate 219. If you've ever been through the foothills in the Laurentian mountains in Quebec - its like that but more hilly than mountainous.
Having 7 hours to drive also gives one ample thinking time and I was able to come to a few strong conclusions about some aspects of life and stuff. Really good :) But alas.. I'm not blogging those things!
On the way down there I forgot to bring some spare change in the car for toll booths (last time I went I didn't have a single toll until I came back over the bridge into Canada). Somehow there were 2 toll booths open this time that I had to go through. So after exhausting my small USD cash supply on the first one I had to make a detour to get gas and some money for the next toll booth. That detour got me lost in the Buffalo University highway system for about 45 minutes. I had my laptop and was able to navigate out from there though. But it still was a frustrating loss of time :(
So after a nice semi-scenic detour around buffalo I got back on track and continued through the nice mountain range to Allegany/Olean NY...
I also managed to kill about 400 bugs with my window on the way there. So many that I had to stop at a gas station to scrape them off in order to see!!
Once I got there I met up with everyone at the linger longer cafe (amazing place for coffee and relaxing for a looong time!). We went to the park, enjoyed the nice sun and weather along the river including an episode of digital camera diving, and rope swing dares. Got some chinese food after and just hung out.
Two of the less camera shy people:
Jamie (The crazy one) and Jesse (Now known as the little sister I always wanted but never had).
(Stolen from Jamie when she wasn't looking)
Do they suit me?
It was some good times with some amazing conversation. God is good :)

hehe. Great job with the sunnies, Ed! Only in Canada would someone drive 7 hours, get lost and have to scrape bugs off their windscreen (do you guys not have windscreen wipers in the land of Canadia? They're great in rain, but even better for bugs ;)) at a PETROL STATION (geez, when will you ever get the proper lingo? :P)
But yeah. Glad you had fun. When I come to Canada... haha... we'll have to go there! :D coffee... mm... coffee...
You went all the way to the States for coffee? o_0
I hope you saw the Allegany Moon while you were there. (Im an Anne Murray fan.)
And no. The variable ed.glasses.looksgood will return a FALSE in the function
bool doIlookgood( void )
:P
hahaha im so funny looking in that picture...well i guess im usually doing something to make me funny looking...my fault.anyway twas fun and we shall rendezvous again soon (or whatever you crazy french canadians call it hahaha)
It was 4.5 hrs of driving in the US Deb :p .. and I do have wipers - just the bugs were caked on.. I had to scrape them off cause the washerfluid didn't do the trick. These were big ones. It looked like bird droppings but clear and with bug gut in 'em. They hardened quickly lol.
Gas station :p We dont buy petrol here!
I think the glasses are very nice (but mine are cooler, but we won't tell Jamie that : P just kidding!) What an awesome afternoon, and my poor poor camera.
*dances* (like Ed at the gas station, close to midnight).
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew bugs :P
lol
Ya, I hate how they don't wash off. Chris' rental car is like, plastered with them.
Ha ha!! Remember when Jamie was wearing a toque and she didn't know it? That was funny.
