I grew up without a TV, and slowly had a VCR+TV combination introduced when I was mid way through elementary. We used to rent movies etc selectively on the weekends. Then my parents won a large HD TV (the one in my office), and its been downhill since then! I gave them a TV antenna for christmas and they were more then happy with the increase from 3-15 channels they could watch. Over time though the complaints came in, and it was just never good or clear enough.
So we went to the next level, and now have a large HD satallite dish on our roof feeding 3 TVs throughout the house.


The installer was very impressed by the setup in my server room and commented that many of the bell mobility communication rooms (like on the towers) are just as well organized as my server room. So that was great :)
So now.. we have several hundred channels and not the basic plan either! Lots of quality programming now. Not to mention about 50-100 channels of pure filth. So I've been working to hide those from the channel display so I now see just the stuff that I actually would watch.

So yeah - thats fun for us now. But its a huge big distraction just waiting for me ;)

On another note, I met with my doctor this morning after my dentist sent me to see him to find out why I had this second reaction at the dentist.
He just talked over some stuff and basically from his past experience (he's seen it alot) its a subconscious reaction to what happened the first time. It may just go away, it may never go away. But basically its something thats out of my control. He said he sees the same with needles etc. People that are completely relaxed get the needle and comment on how it barely hurt and are chatting away and then *thump* they drop. So its not a concious process.

Basically the heart slows down a bit and the blood pressure drops. The brain doesn't compensate fast enough so oxygen doesn't get there and I basically drop out in the brain. I wasn't out for more than about 10 seconds apparently and since it happens so suddenly this causes seizure in the body. So I'm not prone to convulsions or seizure etc. Unless you totally cut off my blood supply to the brain.

I got new tires for my car today. My winter tires are starting to noticably wear now that its hot out and it would be a waste of money to not get them off my car so as much as I want to wait until I have more cash flow to afford them. It's one of those things that you can save alot by spending now than waiting. Oh well - now I won't have to buy new tires for about 2 yrs, and will have really safe summer and winter tires :)

While waiting for my car to finish I read some more of Blue Like Jazz. Its my second time through the book and hes got some really good lessons for life and faith. If you haven't read it - do it. If you are too cheap and can't afford a copy and want to read it - I'll loan you mine. Its that good ;)
