The Other Side

There is always the other side...
For some, its the only side they see. But that, is only for some.
Others, its merely the flip side.
Yet in so many. It does not exist.

What is the 'other side'? Its the spiritual side. Living a completely different and often opposite life than our physical pursuits.

I pray that I can be someone who strives to always be 'the other side', and at the very worst, to have the otherside as just the much better 'flipside'.

I was going to blog and post all the latest and greatest happenings, work info, and such but I have another early morning and should keep it brief and spare alot of details. Instead I'll just post a few things that have really been standing out to me in my life, and life with God.

- God's taught be a huge lesson in humility over the past while. I really wonder how long its been a pretty blatant lesson that i've been ignoring. But with ignorance (at least for me), comes the need for a much bigger billboard in my life. Its the little things he always seems to catch us on.
(3 that stand out in my life over the past while).
Not trusting him in the little situtations (and the big ones).
Forging my own paths.
Spending my time blaming myself rather than seeking out divine purpose.

I often catch myself taking charge of the situation, and taking the responsibility for everything when I realize that often God has a much better plan and purpose for things that i'm going through.
Its funny, because it always comes as a still small voice. Ever since I blogged that passage from 1 Peter a while ago I've found myself going back again and again, rereading it. Its the little things that seem like no big deal that he always gets me in.
For example - The fact that I threw up at the dentists on the second scary experience was the hugest deal for me. Not only did I have to face one of my biggest fears.. but it was also a record of not having thrown up since I was in grade 8 that I was holding onto with great pride. Chances are you may have heard me mention it at some point in time. So He took that away even (in all his actual wisdom which I can now see).

- I've learned a lesson in prayer and just how important that is. Prayer gets results. God gives good results. So why not pray? :)

- I've gained an awesome new little sister :) (In Christ) .. who God has been teaching me so much from and providing such encouragement through.

- I've had 3 or 4 amazing things happens lately where I cannot deny a much greator force at work preparing situations and even changing physical things to encourage and make things 'work' for his Glory.

- God is great, good and has an amazing purpose for each and every person that chooses to accept that plan he has. Its great head knowledge.. but even more awesome when we start to actually beleive that.

:)

You're always in my thoughts and prayers! I feel bad because you always give me deep, very personal blog comments, and that's the most I can say?! : p In truth Ed, I loved the passage you wrote with quotes about humility and how God gives grace to the humble... It's hard to cast everything upon God, big or small, big deal or no-deal. I've found that asking myself, "Who am I to take charge?" usually quiets my frustration. We're control freaks! It's just who we are as human beings. But reminding ourselves of whose really got a handle of the situation is also very humbling in general, just to know "He's got it," as I always say. The best we can do is strive to keep our handle on the Lord, and he's got a handle on everything else, we need only to trust in Him! Much love and prayer, from your sister in Christ.
