(Or: Whats in a name?)

So, I was on my was to bed and did a quick scan of MSN and I'm really quite amazed at the state people are in. MSN names and our 'online personalities' so to speak have become our windows to the soul. Or at least to what we want people to see...

I think this entry is partly inspired by a conversation overhead between some high school youth on Tuesday about their MSN names and what they were and the message and reaction they wanted from them. Both girls had very depressing messages set, even though there wasn't really anything big going on with them.

Browsing my own list I see:

- The underconfident dating couple expressing their love in order to validate themselves
- The self indulged girl posting about how wonderful she is
- The ticked off person warning others of their mood
- The depressed guy regretting a relationship
- The liberal university student publically declaring his disregard and hate of God
- The inspiring hard working student with their daily inspirational thought
- The proud engineer with an always present ERTW in their name
- The girl with low self esteem trying to portray the ultimate party life through her msn name
- The mystery who simply uses their nickname or name as their msn name.
- The business man posting his latest claims to fame
- The party girl posting the newest dance location
- The happily married's declaring how great married life is

Who are you? (..and I tried to avoid using the names of people that actually read this blog so you shouldn't be on the list, although you may find somethign that matches - these all occured multiple times on my list).

Seriously though - what kind of picture do those summaries display to the person that knows them well enough to have them as a contact, but not well enough to know the true reference. What kind of message are you sending?

For those with a faith they want to proclaim and share to the world, how do you think your little self created 'world' comes across to the rest of reality?

For now.. I'll just stick with "Kata". But I'm pretty much just as guilty as charged the rest of the time.
